Finally I get this ebook, thanks for all these The C# Player's Guide (2nd Edition) I can get now!
I was suspicious at first when I got redirected to the membership site. Now I'm really excited I found this online library....many thanks Kisses
I did not think that this would work, my best friend showed me this website, and it does! I get my most wanted eBook
I found out about Playster in the New York times and I'm very happy about it: “One of the newest contenders in the crowded field, a company based in Montreal called Playster, offers music, games, TV shows, movies and e-books through its service. Playster recently struck a deal with HarperCollins to include 14,000 backlist books in its service.”
My friends are so mad that they do not know how I have all the high quality ebook which they do not!
I stumbled upon Playster 2 months ago. I've upgraded to a premium membership already. The platform now carries audiobooks from: Simon & Schuster, Macmillan, HarperCollins UK, Recorded Books, Tantor, and Highbridge. HarperCollins US titles are already in the library. Great service.
so many fake sites. this is the first one which worked! Many thanks
wtffff i do not understand this!

I know many languages, but wanted a quick start to get going in C#
By Kim Crosser
I have worked (and taught) many programming languages, from early Fortran and COBOL to LISP, T/SQL, and PL/SQL. My C programming skills were pretty rusty and I hadn't done any serious C# (or C++) programming in years, so I was looking for a book that would (inexpensively) cover the key parts of the language.
This is a very good book for someone who has at least some background in software development/software engineering.
The author introduces concepts and coding structures very effectively, in the context of developing a computer game framework.
The exercises are useful and well-designed to teach the concepts and structures, and the pace of the book is very well done.
The only area that I found to be a bit weak was in discussing Classes versus Structures - I would have preferred a bit more conceptual work here, with more examples.
For complete programming "newbies", I would recommend starting with a simpler programming language, such as VisualBasic or Python. For someone with at least some background in programming, this is an excellent way to get started in C#.

I can't believe this book is only 23 dollars. It's been awesome so far. I really hope the author does some more books, because they do a great job of breaking things down in understandable terms. There were very few parts in the book that made me say "huh". Very few. I bought this book to learn C# and ended up learning a LOT about C++ and other languages as well, due to concepts that are pervasive through the programming universe.
The author's explanation of value versus reference types was great, that was something that I understood but not as well as I should have. It honestly taught me a lot about how the computer uses memory, and therefore pointers in C++ even though he never talked about them specifically. In any book, there's always room for improvement, but this book had the least need for improvement that I've seen out of a programming book. I'd say it's great for a quick learning beginner, a novice, or someone who is good and familiar with other languages that wants to switch to C#.
I saw one reviewer (yeah the one person that didn't rate it 5 stars) state that the book is not good for beginners because things aren't very well-explained. I think there are two types of "beginners" in computer programming, those who needs really basic concepts that are language-agnostic (to learn to think like a computer thinks), and those who get the basic concepts such as flow control and data types, but are new to the language. For some people, those basic things just "click" and they can start with this book, because their brains think in a more machine-type manner. For those folks whose minds are very unfamiliar with this type of thinking, true beginners to computer science, they probably need to be in a more general programming concepts class or book to begin with (even if they don't want to admit it, I used to be that person...probably still am lol).
I hope the author chooses to continue into more C# topics, or maybe a C++/UE4 book. It's hard to write these things because the languages and techs are constantly evolving, but a WPF book that's explained in this author's fashion would be amazing and would continue where this book left off.

This is a book about the C# language and its uses rather than a game development book. And it's a bloody good one. I start making this statement in order to avoid confusion, as at the end of the day, it's called "Player's guide".
The reason why, is because it sort of points you in the right direction about the uses of the different functions and resources of the language when it comes to writing games. But then again, what this book will provide you is a solid understanding of the C# language, not only the basics, but pretty much everything you need to write thorough, elegant code as you make your first games.
About the author, RB Whitaker is the author of an acclaimed series of free XNA tutorials, that I personally consider one of the most well thought out I've found on the internet. I've used them a lot, and at first I bought the book partially by curiosity, partially by grattitude for his tremendous work in instructing people on the use of XNA and C# as a game development tool.
I couldn't regret it less. To be entirely honest, and after reading it from cover to cover, I have to say it's the best "condensed" and "readable" C# book I have in my programming library. I sometimes even use it instead of "Pro C# 5.0 and the .Net 4.5 Framework", to make some consultations.
Again, congratulations to the author, and I fully recommend this book to any beginner or intermediate level C# programmer. I'm sure you will get knowledge out of it.
