An Introduction to Programming by the Inventor of C++
Preparation for Programming in the Real World
The book assumes that you aim eventually to write non-trivial programs, whether for work in software development or in some other technical field.
Focus on Fundamental Concepts and Techniques
The book explains fundamental concepts and techniques in greater depth than traditional introductions. This approach will give you a solid foundation for writing useful, correct, maintainable, and efficient code.
Programming with Today’s C++ (C++11 and C++14)
The book is an introduction to programming in general, including object-oriented programming and generic programming. It is also a solid introduction to the C++ programming language, one of the most widely used languages for real-world software. The book presents modern C++ programming techniques from the start,
introducing the C++ standard library and C++11 and C++14 features to simplify programming tasks.
For Beginners—And Anyone Who Wants to Learn Something New
The book is primarily designed for people who have never programmed before, and it has been tested with many thousands of first-year university students. It has also been extensively used for self-study. Also, practitioners and advanced students have gained new insight and guidance by seeing how a master approaches the elements of his art.
Provides a Broad View
The first half of the book covers a wide range of essential concepts, design and programming techniques, language features, and libraries. Those will enable you to write programs involving input, output, computation, and simple graphics. The second half explores more specialized topics (such as text processing, testing, and the C programming language) and provides abundant reference material. Source code and support supplements are available from the author’s website.

Finally I get this ebook, thanks for all these Programming: Principles and Practice Using C++ (2nd Edition) I can get now!
I was suspicious at first when I got redirected to the membership site. Now I'm really excited I found this online library....many thanks Kisses
I did not think that this would work, my best friend showed me this website, and it does! I get my most wanted eBook
I found out about Playster in the New York times and I'm very happy about it: “One of the newest contenders in the crowded field, a company based in Montreal called Playster, offers music, games, TV shows, movies and e-books through its service. Playster recently struck a deal with HarperCollins to include 14,000 backlist books in its service.”
My friends are so mad that they do not know how I have all the high quality ebook which they do not!
I stumbled upon Playster 2 months ago. I've upgraded to a premium membership already. The platform now carries audiobooks from: Simon & Schuster, Macmillan, HarperCollins UK, Recorded Books, Tantor, and Highbridge. HarperCollins US titles are already in the library. Great service.
so many fake sites. this is the first one which worked! Many thanks
wtffff i do not understand this!

Great Book for someone starting with Programming and C++
By Francisco R. O.
If you are new to programming, this is your book. If you are new to C++ but knows how to program, you may want to considered this book or C++ Primer.
I think this is an ideal book for Programming I class as well.
It covered the topic well organized and detailed for someone to follow them in a classroom or by themselves. Notice that some people will prefer C++ Primer.
If you have C++ The Programming language, you will not gain anything major with this book. If you already know C++ and have solid concepts about programming, this is not a book for you.
My review is for someone that will start programming or will start c++. for this, I give the book 5 stars.

A Flawed Masterpiece
By Adam L. Kopcinski
This book is an excellent guide to programming and the C++ language, but it is not without its faults. There are a few exercises and general moments where you will become frustrated for lack of a solution, dearth of information, or both. Not that this book is lacking in information - quite the contrary - but there will be times when Stroustrup seems to withhold information that you want or need until after you need it; you might find yourself skipping ahead or googling a thing a too. Thankfully, these moments are few and far between, but frustrating none the less.
This is a challenging book for the true beginner, although not an impossible read. It took me about six months of reading the book and doing nearly every exercise before I felt that I had a fundamental grasp on C++ programming. If this book is a companion to a class, it might take you less time, but be prepared to spend a few months with it, especially if you are a truly new to programming. Just doing the exercises will take you many weeks, but the beauty of this book is that it is extensive and covers almost everything you need to know about C++ programming. It is not a reference library, but after reading this book there won't be much about C++ you don't know (or at least won't know how to find out) and that, to me, is the hallmark of a good text. Stroustrup guides you through things like template functions and memory allocation, shows you how certain containers are created (lists and vectors), covers much of the standard template library (STL), classes, object oriented programming...really, it is a solid foundation for the C++ programmer and programming in general. There are a few caveats; I don't think operator-overloading is explained in enough depth, for one. But this is truly an extensive subject and it's incredible how much the man is able to cover. This book sits somewhere above a beginners book that doesn't go into enough detail, and somewhere below a pure reference manual that doesn't tell you how to do anything. I haven't read his other C++ book - The C++ Programming Language - but I imagine that book and this are probably about all you will ever need when it comes to C++.
Despite its flaws, I have rated it 5 stars, as recently I have begun to see just how poorly books like this can be written - this book blows them away. It has enabled me to program a VST plugin relatively easily. There's even some subtle nerdy humor in it. It accomplishes its task beautifully.

This book is a beast, and a very informative one at that. It's written by the guy who designed the language so you know the source is good. It basically has everything you need to know as a beginning to intermediate programmer looking to learn and program C++. The examples are awesome, the content itself looks great and is structured in such a way that you won't want to immediately close the book just by looking at the pages.
Price wise, it's actually cheaper than a lot of C++ books out there. It's a very good value not only for the quantity of content you will receive, but also the quality. Even if this book is not required for a class, if you are serious about learning I would highly recommend it as a companion text. I frequently used it to get a second perspective on concepts that were more difficult to understand.
